Italian Ronzan Porcelain Temple Lion, Circa 1950
A large rare white porcelain temple dog designed by Italian ceramicist Giovanni Ronzan, circa 1950.
This is actually marked to the base "Made in Italy". It is a lovely high glaze white porcelain Temple lion, with its paw on its cub. Its a very striking decorator piece and is in excellent condition with only minor wear commensurate with age.
Giovanni Ronzan and his brothers, Antoni and Giuseppe, founded the Ronzan Ceramiche Artistiche factory in 1939 shortly after he had left his job as chief painter and ceramic modeller at the Lenci factory.
